Ways to Serve
Local Community Ministries
Ministries outside of Vinewood that we have partnered with to help in their ministries in the local community:
Women facing the challenge of an unplanned pregnancy need a lot of love and support. You can help in a variety of ways: Prayer line, receptionist, prayer team, client advocate, earn while you learn mentor, teach a workshop, baby boutique, help with mailings, church liaison and fundraisers. A non-profit agency that was established to provide shelter for homeless women and children. In addition to shelter, Lodi House provides food, advocacy, counseling and numerous workshops on a wide variety of topics. We serve women and children in our community that have been displaced from their homes who need a second chance.
There will be different opportunities to serve at Leroy Nichols School. Currently volunteers are reading with children in the classroom. We are exploring additional ways to help the teachers and lend a hand with clean-up and maintenance.
Feed the Hungry
The fourth Sunday of each month Vinewood partners with Lodi Community Church to prepare a hearty warm breakfast and sack lunches to feed the hungry of Lodi.
Adult Literacy Program
Provides reading and language instruction for the parent and adult population in the community. In collaboration with the Lodi Public Library, adults from the area meet once a week with tutors from Vinewood to increase their language acquisition and improve reading ability. Volunteers are excited to see learners gain skills in order to assist with their children’s education, to move up in the workplace, and to become more integrated into the local community.
Celebrate Recovery Dinner
Join us as we prepare and serve a dinner for 40 adults and children at the Salvation Army on the fourth Friday of each month. Six to ten volunteers are needed each month.
Back to School Events
Several times a year children are taken to purchase new school clothes and are supplied with backpacks and school supplies. Volunteers are needed to help the children shop for these essentials.
During the month of December there is always a need for warm coats, scarves, mittens, hats and blankets.
This is an opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts for a child who might not otherwise have a gift on Christmas.
Christmas Bell Ringing
During the month of December, Vinewood has been a part of ringing the bell at Raley's for the Salvation Army for many years. This is a major fundraiser for the Salvation Army. Come on and ring a bell!
